Useful Tips for Musicians

The first edition of "Rules of Life for Musicians" (1850) was published by the famous composer, Robert Schumann. Though written decades ago, these rules are still relevant to this day. We decided to retell our favorite recommendations for music students in a more understandable form. So, here are some helpful tips that can help you improve as a musician!

-       Musical hearing is the most important thing.

-       To develop your hearing, try to sing more without the help of a musical instrument.

-       Sing in a choir or solo. This perfectly develops hearing for music. In a choir, it makes sense to sing middle voices, as they are more difficult to identify when listening, unlike melody and bass.

-       Develop your inner ear music so that you can play the piece in your head (both melody and harmony).

-       Never neglect music theory. By studying solfeggio and harmony, you will save time in the future and make it easier to memorize musical text and parse it.

-       Knowledge of musical notation and musical terms will greatly simplify your life.

-       Develop your musicality. Listen to good music every day and build a quality music environment around you.

-       Ensemble performances and accompaniments help to learn how to navigate and adapt to any situation and develop a sense of musical form.

-       Study and learn from the classical works of famous composers.

-       Set aside at least a little time each day to practice your instrument and develop your talent.

-       If you feel tired, take a break.

Do more

and the amount of time you've spent will turn into quality.

And do not forget about the Pareto rule - 20% of the required effort gives 80% of the result. That's it! Think carefully, ask your teacher what aspects you need to work on, plan for your lessons, and then the results will not be long in coming!

Music opens the hearts of people and unites them. But in order to achieve such a perfect performance level, a musician needs to go through many obstacles. Having passed them, the performer opens a world he can no longer live without.
